2N2907 Transistor Explained / Description:
2N2907 is the PNP complimentary of widely used 2N2222 transistor. Like 2N2222 2N2907 is also available in two different packages which are TO-92 and TO-18 which is a metal package. 2N2907 is also a popular general-purpose PNP transistor and has quite good features in a small package. One of the good feature is its 600mA collector current which allows users to drive load of up to 600mA when used as a switch.
2N2907 can also perform any general-purpose task which comes under its specs like it can also be used for variety of audio preamplification and amplification purposes. Moreover, it can also be used for any type of signal amplification in electronic circuitry.
Where We Can Use it & How to Use:
As said above 2N2907 is having quite good specs in its small package and due to which it can be used for variety of general-purpose switching and amplification requirements. As a switch, it can control variety of loads such as LEDs, relays, high power transistors, ICs, etc. It can also be used as an amplifier and can provide good performance in mic preamplifiers, small audio amplifiers, audio amplifier stages, and many other audio related applications. But it is not limited to these uses, it can also perform well in radio and RF circuits under 200MHz.
Applications:
Audio preamplifiers
Audio amplifiers
Audio amplifier stages
Darlington Pairs
RF Circuits
Sensor Circuits
Switching many loads at the same time
Safe Operating Guidelines / Absolute Maximum Ratings:
For safely operating the 2N2907 transistor it is essential to always use it 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings. The maximum collector to emitter voltage of the transistor is -40V therefore do not drive load of more than 32V. The maximum output current of the transistor is 600mA therefore do not drive load of more than 480mA. Always store or operate the transistor in temperature above -55 °C and below +150 °C.
