2SC1674 Transistor Explained / Description:

2SC1674 is a low noise high frequency transistor available in TO-92 package. The transistor has many good features such as 3.0dB to 5.0dB noise figure, DC current gain of 40 to 180, and transition frequency of 400MHz to 600MHz etc. It is designed to be used in FM tuners etc.

Looking at the absolute maximum ratings, the collector-emitter voltage is 20V, collector current is 20mA, collector-base voltage is 30V, emitter-base voltage is 4V, base current is 20mA, total power dissipation is 250mW, junction temperature is 125 ̊C and storage and operating temperature is from -55 ̊C to +125 ̊C.

This transistor is available in three different variations according to its DC current gain and can be identified by the alphabet written after its part number. If the alphabet is “M” its DC current gain will be 40 to 80, if “L” then its hFE will be 60 to 120 and if “K” then its hFE will be 90 to 180.

Where and How to Use This Transistor:

2SC1674 is designed to be used in FM tuners, FM tuners are is the front part of an FM radio circuit or we can also say it the starting point where the signal is first received from the antenna then enhanced by FM tuner and send to the next stages of the radio circuit.

After the tuner stage comes the FM amplifier stage which can also be made with 2SC1674, what this stage do is it takes the output of the tuner circuit and further amplify it so that it can be hear from speaker or headphones.

Applications:

Audio Preamplifier Circuits

Audio Amplifier Circuits

FM tuner and Amplifier

Signal Amplification

Darlington Pairs

Safe Operating Guidelines:

Follow these guidelines to safely operate the transistor:

  • Always operate the transistor at least 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings.
  • Check pin layout before using in the circuit.
  • The storage and operating temperature should be from -55°C to 125°C.
