2SC3298 Transistor Explained / Description:
2SC3298 is an NPN power transistor designed to be used in driver stage and power amplifier applications. The transistor is available in two more different variations which are slightly different from 2SC3298. The features of 2SC3298/A/B are high collector-emitter voltage, high collector-base voltage, good collector current, upto 20W of power dissipation and availability of complimentary transistor.
Looking at the absolute maximum ratings of these transistors, the collector-emitter and collector-base voltage of 2SC3298 is 160V, 2SC3298A is 180V, and 2SC3298B is 200V, collector current is 1.5A, emitter-base voltage is 5V, base current is 0.15A, collector power dissipation is 20W and storage and junction temperature is from 55°C to +150°C.
Moreover, each variation is available in two different gain values which can be determined by looking at the alphabet after the part number. If that alphabet is “O” then its DC gain will be 70-140 and if it is “120-240.
How to Use This Transistor:
It is a BJT so using process using the transistor is same as we use other NPN BJT transistors by applying signal to its base through a suitable current limiting resistor, applying positive voltage to its emitter and getting amplified output or driving load from collector.
Applications:
Audio Amplifier Circuits
Audio Amplifier Stages
Radio Frequency Circuits
Switching Circuits
Darlington Pairs
Variety of General Purpose Applications
Safe Operating Guidelines:
Safe operating guidelines for the transistor are:
- Always use the transistor at least 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings.
- Check pin layout before using in a circuit or design.
- The temperature is also very important for a transistor so the storage and operating temperature should not increase or decrease from these values: -55°C to 150°C.
