IRLB4132 MOSFET Explained / Description:
Today we are going to discuss about 80NF70 MOSFET. It is an N channel MOSFET available in TO-220 package. This MOSFET is primarily designed for general power amplification applications but can also be used in wide variety of other general purpose applications.
The MOSFET has many features and there are also many benefits of using it in your design or circuit. It has good continuous drain current which ensures the transistor can drive high ampere loads under 80A. The MOSFET also has fast switching capability which makes it ideal for situation where immediate and very fast switching is required with no delay.
Looking at the specs of the transistor the maximum drain to source voltage is 60V, the maximum continuous drain current is 80A, max pulse drain current is 320A and total dissipation of the transistor is 150 Watts.
The 80NF70 MOSFET is also available with part number STP80NF70 but it has slightly different specs.
Where We Can Use It & How to Use:
The transistor is designed for general power applications but can also be used for other applications such as power supplies, battery chargers etc. Moreover it can also be used to make a high power audio amplifier other applications can be motor driver circuits, automotive applications etc.
Applications:
Uninterruptible Power Supplies
Battery Chargers
Power Supplies
Solar Chargers
Battery Management Systems
Inverters
Safe Operating Guidelines / Absolute Maximum Ratings:
To safely operating a component it is important not to use it at its absolute maximum ratings and always use it 20% below from these ratings. So same applies to this MOSFET. The maximum drain to source voltage is 60V therefore do not drive load of more than 48V. The maximum continuous drain current is 80A hence do not drive load of more than 64A. Always use a suitable heatsink with the transistor so the heat dissipation can be done and always store or operate at temperature above -55 °C and below +150 °C.
