MPSA13 Transistor Explained / Description:

MPSA13 is an NPN darlington transistor manufactured in TO-92 package. It is a widely used transistor. It is a darlington transistor which means it has two transistors or one pair of same transistors inside connected in a special way that is called darlington pair. It has a DC current gain of 5000 due to which the collector and emitter will be saturated on very small amount of current and the maximum collector-emitter saturation voltage is only 1.5V. The maximum collector current of the transistor is 500mA or 0.5A that is quite enough to drive variety of loads. The maximum collector dissipation is 625mW therefore it can also be used as an amplifier and preamplifier for audio and other signals in electronics.

Where We Can Use it & How to Use:

MPSA13 is a high gain dralington transistor and due to its high gain capabilities it can be use where there is a requirement to amplify any type of low gain signals. It can be used as an audio amplifier, audio preamplifier or miscellaneous signal amplifier. Other than that it can be used as a very low current switch and capable to drive load of under 0.5A. The load can be a relay, high power LEDs, high power transistors. It can also be used at the output of electronics platforms like arduino, raspberry pi etc.

Applications:

Audio Preamplifiers

Audio Amplifier Stages

Sensor Circuits

Switching Loads under 0.5A

Motor Driver Circuits

How to Safely Long Run in a Circuit:

To get long life performance with MPSA13 the user should not drive load of more than 500mA and 30V DC. Always use a suitable base resistor and do not expose to temperature above +150 centigrade and below -55 centigrade.
