MPSA56 Transistor Explained / Description:
MPSA56 is a PNP BJT transistor designed for general purpose switching and amplification purposes. It is available in TO-92 and other packages. The transistor is having quite good specs which make it suitable to use in wide variety of applications. The collector current of the transistor is -500mA thus as a switch it can drive variety of small load in circuits that falls under -500mA current. The collector to emitter voltage of the transistor is -80V thus it can drive load voltage of upto -80V. Moreover the collector to emitter saturation voltage is only 0.25V which makes this transistor suitable in applications where low voltage switching is required.
Other than that the max collector dissipation of 625mW and DC current gain of 100 also makes it suitable to use for amplification purposes such as in audio amplification circuits.
Where We Can Use it & How to Use:
MPSA56 can be used for variety of general purpose switching and amplification requirements in electronic circuits. As a switch it can drive load of upto -500mA therefore it can drive many LEDs, relays, high power transistors etc. in electronic circuits. On the other hand it can be used as a separate audio amplifier and also in audio amplifier stages. Moreover it can also be used in RF applications under 50MHz.
Applications:
Switching loads under -500mA
Audio amplifier applications
Telecommunication and computer applications
RF Applications
Any type of general purpose application
How to Safely Long Run in a Circuit:
For getting good and long term performance with MPSA56 the user must not use the transistor on its maximum ratings and always use it atleast 20% below from its maximum ratings. For example the maximum collector current of the transistor is -500mA therefore do not drive load of more than 400mA. The maximum collector-emitter voltage is 80V therefore do not drive load of more than 64V and always use or store this transistor in temperature above -55 degree Celsius and below +150 degree Celsius.
