C5027 Transistor Explained / Description:
If you are searching for a high voltage transistor to use in your circuit design or application then KSC5027 can be a good choice. The maximum collector to emitter voltage of the transistor is upto 800V which is due to which you can easily use this transistor in your high voltage designs. Moreover the maximum collector current is upto 3A. The transistor also has other features such as high speed switching and wide SOA. With the high speed switching feature and high voltage capability it can be used at many places in electronics where you want to switch the power from one load to another without delay.
Looking at the ratings of the transistor the max collector to base voltage is 1100V, max emitter to base voltage is 7V, max pulsed collector current is 10A, max base current is 1.5A, max transition frequency and max collector dissipation is 50W.
The transistor is quite reliable therefore it can easily be used in commercial and industrial applications. It is available in three different hFE (DC Current Gain) classifications that can be determined the alphabet after the part number. If that alphabet will be “N” then that transistor’s hFE will be 10 to 20, if it will be “R” then its hFE will be 15 to 30 and if that alphabet will be “O” then the hFE will be 20 to 40.
Where We Can Use it & How to Use:
As discussed it is a high voltage and high speed switching transistor due to which it can be used in wide variety of high voltage applications. For example in uninterruptible power supplies, driving high voltage loads etc.
Applications:
High Voltage DC Circuits
High voltage AC Circuits
High speed load shifting under 3A
Switching load under 3A
Safe Operating Guidelines / Absolute Maximum Ratings:
Following are the safe operating guidelines to get better and long term performance with this transistor.
- Do not drive the transistor to its absolute maximum ratings. Driving any transistors to its absolute maximum ratings can cause internal and external damage. So it is recommended to always use it 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings.
- The max collector to emitter voltage is 800V therefore do not drive load of more than 640V.
- Max collector current is 3A, therefore do not drive load of more than 2.4A or 2400mA.
- Do not store or operate the transistor at temperatures below -65°C and above +150 °C.
