2N1613 Transistor Explained / Description:
2N1613 is a TO-39 package NPN transistor designed to use in switching and amplifier applications. It is a medium power transistor and can drive load of maximum 500mA with maximum load voltage of 32V. Looking at the pin layout as seen in the image the first pin is Emitter, second is Base and third is Collector.
The absolute maximum ratings of the transistor are as follows: The maximum collector current is 500mA, max collector-emitter voltage is 32V, max emitter base voltage is -7V, max collector-base voltage is 75V, total power dissipation is 0.8W and minimum and maximum storage temperature is -65°C to 200°C.
2N1613 is designed to use in amplification and switching applications but it can also be used in other applications which can be found under the “Application” heading below.
Where We Can Use it & How to Use:
The transistor is designed to amplification and switching applications but due to its good features it can also be used in other applications such as Radio and RF circuits, Oscillator Circuits etc. It is a BJT transistor so the using procedure of the transistor is same as we use any other BJT transistor.
Applications:
Audio Amp Stages
Signal Amplification
Audio amplifier circuits
FM Tx
FM Rx
Output of Microcontrollers for Driving Different Loads
Drive Loads Under 100mA
Safe Operating Guidelines:
Here are some safe operating guidelines to use the transistor.
- To get long term performance it is important to use the transistor 20% below from its max ratings.
- So the maximum collector-emitter voltage is -32V but according to the above guideline we will only use 25V.
- Same as the maximum collector current is 500mA but we will not drive load of more then 400mA.
- Always use a suitable heatsink with the transistor.
- Max power dissipation should be under 0.8W.
- The maximum temperature of the transistor should be between -65°C above +200 °C.
