2SC2320 Transistor Explained / Description:
2SC2320 is an NPN high gain and low noise transistor available in TO-92 package. It has many good features such as DC current gain of 90 to 800, transition frequency of 200MHz and maximum noise figure of 2dB.
The absolute maximum ratings of the transistor are collector-emitter voltage of 50V, collector current is 200mA, collector-base voltage is also 50V, emitter-base voltage is 6V, collector power dissipation is 300mW, junction temperature is 125°C and storage temperature is -55°C to +125°C.
The transistor is available in four different variations according to its DC current gain and can be determined with the help of the alphabet written on the transistor. The alphabet “D” indicates the hFE or DC current gain of 90 to 180, “E” indicates hFE of 150 to 300, “F” indicates 250 to 500 and “G” indicates 400 to 800.
How to Use Transistor:
To use the transistor as a switch connect the emitter pin with the negative rail of the circuit, apply signal through which you want to control the output load to the base pin through a suitable current limiting resistor and connect the load between the collector pin and the positive rail of the circuit.
Same as to use the transistor as a simple one transistor amplifier connect its emitter pin with ground or negative rail of the circuit, apply signal to its base pin through a capacitor, usually an electrolytic capacitor of 1uf to 10uf is used. The output device such as a speaker should be connected between the collector and positive rail of the circuit.
The above are the procedure of just simple one transistor audio amplifier.
Applications:
Audio Amplifier Circuits
Audio Preamplifier Circuits
Tx and Rx Circuits
Signal Amplification
Switching Circuits
Audio Amplifier Stages
Darlington Pairs
Safe Operating Guidelines:
Follow these guidelines to safely operate the transistor:
- Always operate the transistor at least 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings.
- So according to the 20% below usage maximum voltage is 50V but we will only use 40V.
- Maximum collector current is -50mA, so according to the above guidelines after reducing 20% it will be -40mA.
- Always check pin layout before use.
- The operating and junction temperature range should be between -55°C to 150°C.
