BD137 Transistor Explained / Description:
BD137 is a perfect NPN transistor if you are looking to replace a normal TO-92 transistor to a little bit high power to operate more loads in your circuit. BD137 is one of a transistor of BD13x low cost and high performance transistor series, Other NPN transistors of this series are BD135 & BD139 and there are also PNP complementary of these transistor are available which are BD136 & BD140. One of a good features of this transistor is that the output / collector current of the transistor is 1.5A or 1500mA due to which it can drive variety of loads in your circuits. On the other hand the DC current gain of 25 to 250 and the max collector dissipation of 12.5 Watts making it ideal to use in audio amplification and other signal amplification in electronic circuits.
Where We Can Use it & How to Use:
BD137 can be used in any general purpose switching and audio amplification and other signal amplification applications. When using as a switch it can drive variety of loads in an electronic circuit such as motors, LEDs, high power transistors, part of a circuit, relay switches, ICs etc. and it can also be used at the output of arduino, raspberry pi and other platforms. Other than that when using as an amplifier it can be used as a separate amplifier at the output of any device to drive speaker directly, used in audio amplification stages and different types of signal amplifications.
Applications:
Audio Amplifiers
Switching Loads under 1.5A or 1500mA
Battery Chargers Circuits
Power Supply Circuits
Motor Driver Circuits
Darlington Pairs
How to Safely Long Run in a Circuit:
To get long term performance with this transistor in your circuit it is suggested to always stay some values below the maximum ratings, touching the maximum ratings can cause stress on the transistor that can result in permanent damage of this component. Do not operate load of more than 80V and 1.5mA. Always use a suitable heatsink with the transistor, always use a suitable base resistor and do not operate and store this transistor in temperature below -55 Celsuis an above +150 Celsius.
