2SB507 Transistor Explained / Description:
2SB507 is a PNP transistor available in TO-220 package. It is designed to be used in output stages of audio amplifiers from 15 watts to 25 watts. The absolute maximum ratings of the transistors are as follows:
Collector-emitter voltage is -60V, collector current is -3A, peak collector current is -6A, collector-base voltage is also -60V, emitter-base voltage is -5V, base current is -1A, collector dissipation is 30W, junction temperature is 150°C and storage and operating temperature is -50°C to 150°C.
The transistor is available in four different variations and can be identified with the help of alphabet written after its part number. Each alphabet have different gain value such as if the alphabet is “C” then the transistor’s hFE value will be 40 to 80, if “D” then 60 to 120, if “E” then 100 to 200 and if “F” then its DC current gain value will be 160 to 320.
Where and How to Use This Transistor:
As mentioned above 2SB507 is designed to be used in audio power amplifier applications but it is not limited to these applications and can also be used in other applications such as switching, motor driving circuits, battery charger circuits etc. The using procedure of the transistor is same as we use any other PNP bipolar junction transistor.

Safe Operating Guidelines:
To safely operate the transistor follow these guidelines:
- Always operate the transistor at least 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings.
- So according to the above guidelines do not drive load of more than 2.4A and the load voltage should not be more than 48V.
- Check pinout before using in the circuit.
- Always maintain the temperature of the transistor between -50°C to 150°C.
