BC141 Transistor Explained / Description:
BC141 is a metal case TO-39 package NPN transistor and can drive load of upto 1A and 60V. Looking at the pin configuration of the transistor the first pin of the transistor is emitter which can be determined with the help of the nob (A small tab on the body of the transistor) the second pin is the base pin which is also the center pin of the transistor and the third pin is collector pin.
The absolute maximum ratings of the transistor of the transistor are as follows: The collector-emitter voltage is 60V, collector current is 1A, collector-base voltage is 100V, emitter-base voltage is 7V, total power dissipation is 3.7W and max storage, operating and junction temperature is from -65°C to +200°C.
The other characteristics of the transistor are transition frequency of 50MHz, collector capacitance of 25pF, emitter capacitance of 80pF, base-emitter voltage is from 1.2 to 1.0V,
The transistor is designed to be used in general purpose amplification and switching applications. The detailed list of its applications can be found below under “Applications” heading.
Where We Can Use it & How to Use:
The transistor is designed to be used in switching and amplifier applications, which means it can be used in wide range of applications.
Using procedure of the transistor is same as we use any other BJT transistor.
Applications:
Audio Preamplifiers
Audio Amplifiers
Any type of signal amplification
Radio Circuits (Up to around 150MHz)
Transmitter Circuits (Up to around 150MHz)
Darlington Pairs
Active Filters
Switching Loads under 100mA
Safe Operating Guidelines:
Here are the safe operating guidelines of the transistor.
- Always use the transistor 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings.
- The maximum collector current is 100mA but according to the above 20% below usage guideline we will only use 80mA.
- The maximum collector-emitter voltage is 45V but same as above we will only use 36V which is the 80% of the total limit.
- Regarding to the storage and operating junction temperature of the transistor the internal and surrounding temperature of the transistor should be between -55°C to +150°C.
