BC184 Transistor Explained / Description:
BC184 is a TO-92 package NPN transistor designed to be used in general purpose applications. It contains many good features such as Low noise capabilities, good DC current gain and transition frequency of upto 150MHz etc.
It is a transistor of BC18x series which also contains BC182 and BC183 transistors. There is not much difference in these transistors and can be used in place of each other as substitutes.
Looking at the absolute maximum ratings of the transistor the collector-emitter voltage is 30V, collector current is 100mA, emitter-base voltage is 6V, collector-base voltage is 45V, collector dissipation is 350mW and storage and junction temperature is from -55°C to 150°C.
How to Use This Transistor:
This is a simple guide to understanding the concept of how to use this transistor. BC184 is an NPN BJT transistor so the using procedure is pretty much the same as we use any other BJT transistor by connecting its emitter pin with the negative pin of the circuit providing signal to the base pin and driving load from the collector pin in switch circuits and getting amplified output from the collector in amplifier circuits. This is a simple straight forward guide to use the transistor as a switch and an amplifier but for building these circuits you will also require passive components such as resistors and capacitors to use where required.
Applications:
Audio Preamplifier Circuits
Audio Amplifier Stages
Audio Amplifier Circuits
Battery Charger Circuits
Switching Circuits
Low Level Signal Amplification and Preamplification
Automotive Circuits
Darlington Pairs
Solar Circuits
Tx and Rx Circuits
Safe Operating Guidelines:
Here are some guidelines for safe operation of the transistor.
- Always use the transistor 20% below from its absolute maximum ratings.
- The maximum collector-emitter voltage is 30V but by following the above 20% rule we will only use 24V.
- The maximum collector current is 100mA but by following the above 20% rule we will only use 80mA.
- Always check the pin layout of the transistor before using the circuit.
- The storage and operating temperature should be between -55°C to 150°C.
